The Coaching Process

Coaching is a collaborative process, using a questioning approach, to help take you from where you are now, to where you want to be. The specifics of what we work together on will vary person to person, sometimes it could be a single thing to change or work on, a goal, a challenge, and sometimes it could be multiple areas of your life that you would like to see change. Change is an important word in coaching, as if you want your life to change then you will need to also.

Typically I follow the process below;

Current Reality.

This gives us a baseline from which to move forward. It can actually feel cathartic to have the opportunity to offload everything that is going on in your life and it helps us to understand where and what changes you want to make in your life, or what challenges you are facing.

Desired Outcome & Vision.

Having understood your current reality, we now establish the outcome you are looking to achieve and what your vision for your future life is.

Values

Understanding and clarifying our values can help us in everything we do. Keeping these in mind when faced with choices to make, can help us make decisions that remain true to who we are.

 

Goals

Now that we know what your vision looks like, we start creating goals and tasks to achieve it. We ensure all your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and have a time target. We look at your motivation and understand your why. We also look at what obstacles are in your way, what your options are to overcome them, and how we will know whether you have been successful or not.

 

Having created your first set of goals, we now create a list of tasks, daily, weekly etc. that you will do to work towards your goals.

 

Review.

Once all the above has been agreed, we then undertake a regular review process. What has been going well, what challenges are you facing? Do we need to re-evaluate any of your goals and tasks? Additionally when you have reached your goals, do you want to create new ones? This is done through a goals tracker that we will create and keep safe in a shared area on Google Drive for you to access whenever you wish.

We can also run through the features and benefits of my coaching programmes and how we can make them work best for you. I offer coaching programmes which are typically 2, 3 or 6 months in duration and Power Hour Sessions which are one-off single sessions. The benefit of a coaching programme is that we work is greater detail and have more of a structure to work from which provides a greater opportunity to achieve the outcome you are looking for. Power Hour Sessions provide you with an hours support to work on smaller goals or outcomes.  

Managing challenges in your life

Whether they be internal or external the above process still applies but additionally we spend time focusing on all the areas of your life causing stress, anxiety etc. and we determine which are within your control & influence and which are outside of your control and influence. That enables us to create a plan as to where best to focus your time and energy and create a set goals and tasks to help you overcome them.

I also underpin this coaching process with the 5 pillars of happiness. Positivity, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning & Achievement.
